About the E'Ryn Leadership Foundation

Mission and Vision

 

The E’RYN Leadership Foundation (ELF) builds and sustains programs which foster academic excellence, character education, and emotional solidity. Our programs are guided by the belief that everyone deserves a chance at success; success which is not measured by what you have, but what you give of yourself.

 

Children are separate entities within their own society, and in most cases learn differently and independent of each other. It is the vision of this foundation to support programs where the student desires to achieve individual greatness.

Mission Objectives

 

 

To increase academic performance of participants.

 

The foundation will offer programs designed to assist students in making reasonable academic progress by providing support in the areas of basic reading, comprehension, math, and written expression. Academic support will be implemented through after-school and summer programs for girls in grades 4-12.

 

 

To reduce/eliminate suspensions, expulsions and disciplinary referrals for participants.

 

The foundation implements a plan to offer alternatives for suspended and expelled adolescents, as well as early prevention and intervention to prevent the behaviour that will lead to such courses of action. This segment of the program will focus on Character Development.

 

 

To reduce juvenile crime in participating communities.

 

The foundation is aware of the many problems faced by its participants and the direct correlation these problems may have on juvenile criminal activity.  By providing after school and evening activities the foundation will address the need of offering supervised activities as an alternative to street life for its participants.  Seminars and workshops focused on both the parents and the community are aimed at educating the public and encouraging their involvement in crime prevention.

 

 

To introduce socially desirable lifestyles to participants.

 

The foundation is aware of the negative social infrastructures which permeates the community and awaits to assail each of its participants.  By implementing a model of diverse life activities, it will allow participants to become aware of other opportunities for life growth and development that exist.  In addition, the proliferation of this model will break the mode of complacency and acceptance of mediocrity that saturates the community.  Seminars and workshops focused on developing life skills are aimed at educating our participants and arming them with aspirations of more desirable lifestyles.

 

 

To provide a 48-hour refuge in participating communities.

 

We will provide emergency shelter, a maximum of 10 beds (6 maximum for ages 10-16; 2 bed maximum for known infectious disease. No limit for children ages 0-9) for the following:

 

> gang violence

> physical abuse

> sexual abuse

> drug addiction

> prostitution

> run away

> teenage pregnancy

   child’s individual success

   crucial to meeting the individual needs of

   each student

 

> We believe students’ will be challenged to

   meet their greatest potential

   academically, spiritually, and socially

 

> We believe students’ will learn to solve their

   problems creatively

 

> We believe cooperative learning is

   instrumental

 

> We believe our students can become

   productive citizens in a diverse society

 

> We believe in finding and recognizing the
