E’Ryn Leadership Foundation, Inc., was founded by Nyree D. McQueen, a native of Chicago, Illinois, and a loving mother of one daughter, Assata Sicily. With a Bachelor’s in Sociology, a Master’s in Interrelated Special Education, and a Specialist in Teacher Leadership, her personal and professional experiences continue to contribute to her desire to effect positive change; considering the many dilemmas associated with parent/family involvement in education, as well as the lack of effective communication between essential key players. It is her mission to implement programs which will help sustain a healthy mental, emotional, spiritual, and personal lifestyle in its participants.
Upon receiving her undergraduate degree, Ms. McQueen spent her first five (5) years working in the social service arena as the Volunteer and Admissions Coordinator for a supplemental educational facility, a Youth Social Worker in a residential treatment facility, and a Case Manager with a family and children social service agency. Those experiences helped shape her foundational belief that everyone deserves a chance at success, not matter their circumstance.
Her professional career in special education began in 2001, where she simultaneously completed her graduate and post graduate degrees. Her positions in the classroom and at the district level required flexibility, accountability, focus and diplomacy. She understands and continues to focus on the individual needs of students knowing that their learning style is a key component in helping them reach their full potential academically, emotionally, behaviourally, and socially.
